Oh my God...

★★★★★★★★★★ 10 stars!... but...

How can I possible say that I loved this book when it broke my heart into pieces and I am still trying to recover from this emotionally intense and chocking reading. I struggle for words to describe a book that put on the verge the moral dilemma of consensual Incest. How to define what is right from wrong? or what is wrong from right? Does it have to be one or the other? How in some cases love can be wrong in front of the eyes of a society that still has too many moral boundaries to understand a different kind of love?. In this case, a love that is considered as something disgusting and taboo. Nowadays, we do not follow a Divine Command anymore. Today, we have debates, and this book brings back one. The debate to reconsider a different case scenario concerning incest. Forbidden takes this "disgusting taboo" and turns it into the most beautiful and heartbreaking love story I have ever read. Also, There are so many other themes in this book like family, alcoholism, Parents' abandonment, traumas, depression, loneliness, sustain, life, incest and of course, Love.

Forbidden is a chocking and powerful book and you will feel its emotional weight long after you turned the last page. An incredible narration from the solid strong voices of Lochan and Maya's point of view. This book will put you on the edge of tears and happiness, desperation and relief. It will crack your heart and make you smile. It will lead you through the cruel and painful road of Maya and Lochan's love. A very scarce and different type of Love. Different and punishable by the law. I know Forbidden is fiction, but why can not we allow ourselves to think that, as a remote case, maybe two siblings could truly fall in love with each other? We all know that in fiction, there is also reality.

So why? If it is love... just because is different...does it mean is wrong?

“This whole time, my whole life, that harsh, stony path was leading up to this one point. I followed it blindly, stumbling along the way, scraped and weary, without any idea of where it was leading, without ever realizing that with every step I was approaching the light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. And now that I've reached it, now that I'm here, I want to catch it in my hand, hold onto it forever to look back on - the point at which my new life really began.”

“I might appear confident and chatty, but I spend most of my time laughing at jokes I don't find funny, saying things I don't really mean - because at the end of the day that's what we're all trying to do: fit in, one way or another, desperately trying to pretend we're all the same.”

“Pressed up against him, I can feel the thud of his heart against mine, his ribcase expanding and contracting rapidly against my chest, the warm whisper of his breath tickling the side of my neck, the brush of his leg against my thigh.
