I used to purchase every issue of Superman comics as they came out. When we moved to Australia, I even switched to the
black-and-white version, though they struck me as very odd.

I hated this book. I regarded it as offensively intrusive. I don't mind some discussion of the motives of characters, but putting thoughts in their head as well as words in their mouths...there's some precedent, of course, in tbe comics' thought balloons, but they're nothing like this meddlesome. I didn't like it. I only read it because I couldn't get the real thing. Now I don't care--the characterization has changed so much. If I could go back to the comic books I read as a child, I wonder if I would still like THEM?
