Since first picking this up in middle school, I've loved O'Dell's story of a girl left to fend for herself on an island, a more relatable Robinson Crusoe.
Although the language will be simpler to an older reader, this classic is still deserving of a read. The story of Karana's life is engaging and moves along at a clip pace.
