In ANIMAL DREAMS we travel with Cosima (Codi) as she goes home to Grace, AZ. Her father is ill and she is needed. Codi always felt like an outcast here and she is not returning happily. Her beloved sister, Hallie, has gone to Nicaragua to aid in their battle for survival (this takes plan during the Contra period). The story is of Codi's lessons learned from all the people in town and her experiences there for the year she has committed to.

Again, Kingsolver just amazes with her ability to craft words into beautiful sentences and paragraphs and ultimately a story that you will learn from and love. A beautiful book!

"Arthritic mesquite trees grew out of impossible crevices in the cliffs, looking as if they could adapt to life on Mars if need be.". Not difficult, but how many of us could put something so simple in language like that? LOVE!"
