** spoiler alert ** This is book five of the Morganville series, book four Feast of Fools (Morganville Vampires) left Morganville burning. Each of the friends are ordered to different posts, Shane to protect the book, Michael the Uni, Eve to hold the coffee shop with Oliver & Claire to go with Amelie, who is fighting for control against the ancient cold Mr Butler, who is out for revenge.

Shane admits his father maybe coming back, Eve is as feisty & brave as ever, Monica gets taken down a huge peg or ten (yeah).Mrynin is still his madcap self & Oliver is fighting hard working with Amelie to depose Butler . There's human retaliation comes out in force & you see the the two vampire factions & human pulling in three different directions. Add Shanes dad Frank & you have yourself one hell of a party.....

The Humans & Vampires become chess pieces in a ruthless game between these two powerful foes, with Claire & her friends becoming expendable pawns.
Claire stakes her first vampire, has love expressed to her for the first time & has her trust ruthlessly thrown back in her face with dramatic consequences which leaves the book infuriatingly on a cliff hanger.......

The next book in this popular teen series is Carpe Corpus (Morganville Vampires)......

A two & half star as I think it was a bit dragged out for the sake of it, sorry but that's how I feel. It is still a decent enough read though, you are left more or less exactly as the last book was left except for the last few pages. You could quite happily read just that & you really would not of missed anything vital at all.
