I give this a 2.5. It's okay, but I think it will appeal to middle school/younger high school girls.

Sarah has liked Ryan for a few years and her bff Brianna knows it. But when Ryan shoots up a few inches and puts on some muscle over the summer, Brianna is suddenly interested. Now Brianna and Ryan are a couple and Sarah, the third wheel. What is Sarah supposed to do when she finds out Ryan really likes her too? Well, probably not get involved with him, but that is precisely what she does. While Sarah feels guilty, she waits for Ryan to break the news to Brianna. Along the way, she finally begins to figure out what kind of person and friend Brianna has been all along.

Our sympathies in this somewhat maudlin novel lie with Sarah rather than the manipulative Brianna, but as a Booklist review by Debbie Carton noted, the novel also captures well the nuances of a realistic interdependent relationship.
