Read from January 31 to February 13, 2011

Bloody, dark, relentless, this book is epic in scope. It presents the best and worst of human behavior under extreme circumstances, mixed with the capriciousness of fate and location, to paint an almost post-apocalyptic vision of the future in a small town in Maine. Some people have found it to be too bloody, too dark, too relentless to finish, but I am not among them. It is truly a thought-experiment, taken to its logical end, by a master of human behavior and motivation.
