** spoiler alert ** A great book following Ishmael and the crew of the Pequod on a four year journey in search of whales, specifically Moby Dick the great white whale who Captain Ahab is seeking revenge on. The crew (Starbuck, Stubb, Flask, Queequeg, Tashtego, Dagoo, Pip, and others) make for an adventurous read and a sad end when all sink with the Pequod under the ocean after three days of fighting Moby Dick (with only Ishmael surviving). An allegory and metaphor for life, etc. A really interesting read in terms of ecology and biology of whales and whaling, etc.
