This book is very good in the devleopement of characters and events. It is very carefully laid out and and suspenseful that you just have to keep on reading instead of being able to guess what happens. This is good because it keeps the story interesting and it does not become boring. The developement of characters is also very well done because it reveals more and more traits and hidden things as the book and events develope also. This is also great because the story is very realistic.

Since it is realistic you can relate to the story and its chracters. This allows you to get a better image in your head and a feel for the story. It also allows for you to understand and better sense the imagery and other elements in the book. I also found it nice because it has an interesting historical aspact to it. The stories of the history of the Cape and its people and sea captains is very interesting to me. Just to think about the things in life that have changed and then the stuff that people have been doing for hundreds of years is pretty intriguing.
