Sheriff Lance is the perfect man... ahhh... and if any one needs a perfect man, it's Harmony aka Death...

Harmony is Jonas' sister, trained from a young age to kill, used until she was 15 to kill people who would have helped the Breeds... and their mother, Dr. someone, who treated Jonas differently than any other Breed in their facility - coddling him, indulging him, etc. - had plans to kill him and all of the others because he was planning an escape (that would include Dr....). Harmony discovered her plans, and killed everyone in the facility... and took information about the first Breed- to be born, and to escape, Leo - still alive, and mated, and 100 years old...

So we learn a little about Leo... his father, who began the Breed program wanted a son, and a son who was a little bit more... he managed to leave the bulk of his money to him and no oneknows that Leo is a Breed... he has a son, Dane... and Dane and his friend Ryan have been protecting Harmony in the only ways she would allow since she escaped, for 10 years... she is implanted with a gps/body monitor that led Dane to her whenever she was in trouble...Dane loves her, but accepts that they are not mated... I'm not sure why, but Leo / Dane do not want to help Jonas as he tries to prepare for the world learning about mating/ longevity... hmmmm

Harmony/Death has spent 10 years hiding and executing those who hurt women & children... she doesn't trust Jonas, and is hurt that he didn't trust her... Jonas captures her, and does his usual manipulating... somehow, and it's not explained, he knows that Lance and harmony are mates, so he throws them together... it is his plan that she will shift her allegiance to Lance and lead Dane &/or the information she hid out into the open so that Jonas can capture it... Dane knows what is going on, and though he wants to take armony into hiding, he doesn't - though Lance stops him the last time...

Harmony slowly comes to accept and love Lance.. to know that she comes first for him, and to find forgiveness and acceptance for herself...

Lance, of Indian heritage, hears the wind, and knows that he needs to die... so he sacrifices himself for harmony and their unborn child... Jonas is there and takes him to the hospital... and the earth gives him back his life...

So Jonas needs a mate (his secretary I thought, but this book set up someone else)... and will we hear more from Dane? and how about Leo?...
