If you've ever lost a pet, this book hits home. Owen is upset after discovering his dead dog. He and his father take time to dig a grave and give the dog a proper burial, and also allowed for Owen to take part in the grieving process. The text isn't anything fancy, and the illustrations are nicely done--overall it's a very sweet book that might bring comfort to a family hurting from the loss of a pet and a child struggling to understand what it means. Best suited for early elementary or elementary kids.

Joe I have lost a pet. But I have also found a pet. I loved her and squeezed her and named her Hip-Hoptay. We are very happy.
