Suite Française by Irene Nemirovsky
Slow to get into. But once you are in you're in. So intrigued not only by this story but the author's real life story that happened as she was writing this book. Make sure to read all appendices and epilogue. The book sought out human nature and responses to military invasion and living in a militarized country. Beautifully written.
