This is basically a paranormal Plum book. The same writing style, the same snark, the same heroine who is just trying to make it though life without life running her over. She falls in with Diesel, a hunky guy from the 'Between the Numbers' series and together they try to find some magical stones before Diesel's cousin Wulf finds them. Wulf is the nefarious bad guy and wants the stones for himself. Along the way, they pick up Carl the monkey and a ninja cat who was destined for a lethal injection at the local animal shelter.
I love everything that Ms E writes, but I felt that this could have been made better. Wulf and a few other small characters could have been fleshed out more, but she may be waiting until later to do that. I have to say, though, that I did not care for the ending. Everything was going along just fine and then it just stopped. It left me thinking, 'wait! what happens next?' I guess that is what the next book in the series is going to tell us...
