Katie O'Connor, an eighteen year old young woman, on the brink of womanhood, right in the midst of changing times. Women's rights are a passion of hers, and she is determined to go to law school, and to marry rich. Katie has always been a strong willed child and as she nears adulthood, instead of it being easier on her parents, she kicks and fights all the rules. Causing her father to make a drastic move. Confining her for her summer, making her volunteer in an office, with a young man who was the very bane of her existences as a young child. Katie is not happy! Banned from seeing her rich, spoiled, overindulging boyfriend, Katie is in for a boring summer. At least she is sure that she is.

Set in a time when things were changing so fast, this book is so interesting to see this author's view and take on how families handled the financial crises that were plaguing the nation. How the faith of the parents made some decisions and actions forbidden at the O'Connor home. And how faith brought them all through and caused a willfully strong young woman, to grow up and become the young lady her parents hoped she would be, and the one God called her to be.

A great story, I cried, I laughed, and I cried some more. You MUST read this book, you will not be disappointed. 505 pages, $14.99 US 4 stars
