it was amazing
bookshelves: g-fantasy, t-book-in-series, 2011-read
Read from October 23 to 29, 2011

I love the way Modesitt gently brings you into the everyday life of a character, that 'just happens' to be integral in a major plot. You spend time playing with his daughter as well as fight the bad guys, and everything from his perspective. So you don't know any more than he does.
Modesitt paints a wonderful tapestry of a budding industrial society where champions of different governmental ideas jostle for power to rule. The action scenes are far between, but the worldbuilding is amazing.
Modesitt has refined his way of writing and if you're a fan you'll love this book, which is the third in the series about the imager Rhenn and if you haven't read Modesitt yet you should give him a try.
