Esmeralda Santiago shared her story of moving from Puerto Rico to the busy and hectic streets of Brooklyn. She tells of her journey through some of middle school, high school, and the many jobs she attainded. The detailed explanations of the smells of foods and the ways she described her mother reminded me of the time I was in Puerto Rico. I could really relate to Esmeralda and I enjoyed this book.
