Velvetink 2 stars?

Shellie (Layers of Thought) Yep - did not make it through.... too much of a slog. Old fashioned English and it was an "adult" version... I would not recommend all versions for children.

Velvetink Daughter did it in high school so I took a 2nd look and really enjoyed it...we also got out a couple of videos of the various film versions. But agree not sure young kids would like the original version

Shellie (Layers of Thought) I am glad you did like it... but for me and with so many books I would love to read, I am ditching the books I really have to struggle with to enjoy.

*my "new" - clear the shelves philosophy* (I am kidding myself)

As for the children - I think many would enjoy the right version. The version I listened to included some in depth discussions around bodily functions which kids would like (pee and poo) - however with one in depth description of a giant breast and more... that was a bit too adult.

It was not a nice description...

Velvetink Gee I don't actually remember the breast one....remember all the political ones though..

Shellie (Layers of Thought) See now, I've forgotten the political references.... lol.

John and I listened to it in audio on a long drive and he gave up a long time before I did. I think it was because of one of those political aspects??? he just got really bored. I do have to say in the end - so did I.

Oh well....

Velvetink :) it was the politics that my daughter had to discuss for high school after reading it - i guess that's why i remember that part the most!
