Friendly Fire by Jill Shalvis *** (3 Stars)

Permanently injured on black-ops mission, Cord Vladden is furious at the world. Then Lexi McGowen reappears in his life to nurse him back to health. Little does he guess that’s she’s about to reveal a whole new world to him, one touch at a time…

For me, this story was missing something that I really couldn't get into and probably the one that took me the longest to finish because it wasn't just absorbing me in, which is surprising since I love Shalvis's work.

The Prodigal by Rhonda Nelson (Men Out of Uniform, #6.5) **** (4 Stars)

When Rorie Beddingfield meets up with her first love, Chase Harrison, she realizes there’s no better time to find out what she’s been missing. And wow—she’s been missing a lot! Still, she’s thoroughly enjoying making up for lost time. But can she tame the battered heart of this wounded warrior…without losing hers?

This story was short and sweet. Nelson really showed Rorie and Chase's romance, their chemistry was hot and still manage to show a deep level conflict in father/son relationship. For such a short story, it packed a lot and it was done beautifully.

Packing Heat by Karen Foley ***** (5 Stars)

Megan O’Connell’s letters were the only thing that kept U.S. Marine sniper Matt Talbot sane while he was overseas. And now that he’s home, he intends to get to know Megan much better. Too bad a lot of other people have the same idea. Only it’s him they can’t seem to get enough of…

The last one by far was my favorite story in the book. I just loved Megan and Matt Story and the way they meet. I just loved the letter writing, and how both of them were already a little bit in love with each other before even meeting.
