I went into this book already loving the story from seeing the broadway show at least 5 times! The story changes a little bit here and there, but all in a good way. I just love the story! It is such a beautiful story, it was great! Why only 4 stars, though? Well, Mr. Hugo loves to hear himself talk, obviously and there were many many times I wanted to throw the book out of the window! The history of slang, the difference between insurrection and revolution, history of the sewer system....I could go on and on. So, as much as I loved it, I felt Mr. Hugo needed an editor badly, so I had to take away a star.
I still recommend this very much, though. Perhaps the abridged version, though?

One question, though: the history of the sewer system!?!
