Place this one firmly in the YA category. Walker is probably best known for her Sibert Award winning novel Secrets of a Civil War Submarine. In this novel we learn about the work done by a variety of different scientists in Antarctica. We hear about how ice shelves are created. How scientists can find trapped air from hundreds of thousands of years ago. We see the very bedrock and see the dinosaurs that used to live on this land, back when it was attached to South America. We even see teens creating their own underwater robot for exploration. Science geeks will adore it. English majors like myself may have some difficulties but that's okay. It clearly knows its audience. B
