Oh! My! Goodness! This is one of the best Polacco books yet, and that is saying something! Patricia was put into a class of "special" students known as The Junkyard at her new school. Although she was devastated, she began to make new friends and to love her wise teacher, Mrs. Peterson. The very best part of this book is the last page upon which Polacco tells what happened to "The Junkyard Wonders" when they became adults and how their tribe of friends actually made it to the moon! It's just awesome - and a good lesson about making judgments about others based on appearances and perceptions. Terrific for all ages!
