** spoiler alert ** MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!

I like to describe this book as a modern-day Wizard of Oz, but where Dorthy doesn't wake up. That's right, he dies. This is a brave and perfect ending, and I commend Bray for going for it. I wonder if she knew at the beginning she was going to do that or not? Anyway, there was really no other way (seeing as how Mad Cow Disease is incurable), but I was still glued to the pages, waiting to see if she would go for it or not. She did.

It came almost as a shock when I read it. The rest of the plot and adventure is so fast paced and engaging that while I would read the parts about his family being with him in the hospital and go "aw" I immediately moved on. So I didn't even notice how that emotional stuff had moved me under the surface until I turned the last page, shut the book and immediately started sobbing. I was like, where the heck did that come from?? But obviously it moved me in a very intense way, and without my even noticing it. Thank you Ms. Bray.

It's a little weird when you first start, but worth the ride.
