Lonesome Dove (Lonesome Dove, #1)
by Larry McMurtry
by Larry McMurtry
I'm not sure I've much to add to what (little) I have already stated. This is simply one of the best novels I've ever read. The book is infinitely more than a 900 page cattle drive. If you haven't read this book you are missing out on a gem.

Amy! Where have you been?! So this is one of the few books that breaks your 250 page rule (or whatever it was?)
I'm here, mummified in my little room in Tucson. Yes, this is one of those books. I don't know why--I hate most Westerns, but I love this book. Probably because it is a like a Western soap opera! (Much like Anna Karenina is a Russian soap opera and The Stand is a post-apocalyptic soap opera, and I love those two unceasingly as well.)
