Read in August, 2010

Yet another well done, eve-of-World-War-II espionage novel set in Berlin. This time the main character, John Russel, is a British freelance journalist who is approached by the Germans, the Russians and the Brits and 'asked' to help each as they jockey for position and information before war breaks out. Unlike many other books of this genre, though the author manages to infuse the story with enough tension to keep a reader interested and absorbed, there's no overt violence. Rather, the story plays out via Russell's smart maneuvering, as he manages to remain quite a few steps ahead of game the game. I'm eager to read the follow up books in this series...
