The Cutie (Hard Case Crime #53)
by Donald E. Westlake
by Donald E. Westlake
1960's pulp fiction from Donald Westlake. Clay is an "enforcer" for some vague type of organized crime outfit and he finds himself playing a cat and mouse game with someone who's setting him up for murder.
I like it when a "bad guy" is the protagonist, even though he's a conflicted killer. I also liked the ending - something you see rarely and only in pulp fiction like this.
