I had never heard of this author or series before, but I picked up the book at a $1 bookstore. I'm glad I did, because there were some parts where I just couldn't stop reading. This book had a mixture of many things: romance, urban-ness, mystery, magic, and furryness. Sophie was a likeable character, and the world and characters seemed pretty well-fleshed-out. I thought the naming was cute. The small mystery aspect was interesting but seemed a little superficial.

I didn't realize that this was a part of a series when I picked it up. I'd be interested to see where it goes, though I think this book could have been easily wrapped up as a standalone.
