FIRELIGHT has all the aspects of a fantasy YA novel that I love to hate. It has the sudden, inexplicable attraction between the two lead characters ("love at first sight" if you will), the forbidden love between two people of different species, and everything else that manages to irk me in all the fantasy/paranormal YA books that are popping up like crazy. But for some reason, it manages to work in FIRELIGHT. I couldn't put the book down, and kept on turning the pages until the end. If there is one think I truly dislike about FIRELIGHT, it is the ending. The ending is a complete cliffhanger, seeming to leave nothing resolved and create so many more loose ends. At least there is another book coming out--hopefully soon.
