Probably a 3.5 for me

Didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, but liked it enough to continue with the series.

The "romance" element in this was what reduced the rating for me. I just didn't connect with the relationship, even though I truly liked both Thierry and Jema. I just thought the author wasted a hell of a lot of fantastic intense issues these 2 had. Each one could have been used to develop the story into a far deeper romance than the superficial 'romance' gloss attached to this.

Also felt the writing at the beginning was very disjointed and relied completely on the reader having read the first book (and recently)... Once further into the story though the writing seemed to smooth out and I got into it more.

I really like the development of the characters and the world these books are set in... little put off though by the floral smelling gents!

Will continue to read this series (especially as I have the whole series lent to me).
