it was amazing
bookshelves: classics, formative, young_adult

This book influenced me profoundly when I was younger, and probably contributed to my life-long paranoia of sudden heart attacks.

If I reread this now I would still find it to be an excellent book, but I wish I could cast myself back into my adolescent mindset and feel the impact of this book again. I don't even want to think about this enough to review it that specifically. It is a vague feeling in my memory, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Gwen What a unique review! I'm so impressed.

Rebecca I have the same feeling about this book. The thing Brian saw at the beginning was SO suspenseful and forbidden to me (in 5th grade), and the thing he found at the end was terrifying. As for the in-between, I think about it every time I'm in the woods. Especially around mosquitos or berries. This one, "Island of the Blue Dolphins," and "My Side of the Mountain" all made me both fantasize about and fear a survival story of my own.
