Sadly disappointing. My biggest beef...it was so flat and dull. With no fully formed conflict or antagonist, there was no fight in the story. No real struggle to overcome. Nothing exciting that the characters were fighting for. On top of that, the magic was vague. I wanted to understand what it was and where it came from, but it was never fully explained or even demonstrated through the characters for that matter. In a book like this, the magic has to be a character and have a life of its own. A great idea...just wasn't executed well. I forced myself to finish because it was an easy read and I wanted the ending to redeem the story. It didn't. I'd say skip it.
