I thought this was a very well done story.

I had recently read this author's 'The Swan Kingdom' and thought it was nice but too sot & fairy-tale-ish for me to really get into.
It's hard for me to believe the same author wrote this - it has such a different feel & texture.

This protagonist is gritty, tough but still loveable, self-assured yet still a bit scared. I thought her reactions were quite real.

My only complaint is the ending - don't be alarmed, it's not a 'bad' ending, just I felt it was a bit too much of a reach.

Overall, good read - enough romance to keep me interested but enough other stuff to make it interesting. Good balance.
