Chuck Palahniuk is the author of many novels with one of it being Fight Club. In his novel Choke, the protagonist is Victor Mancini, a dropout from medical school. To pay for his mother's medical expensive, he devised a clever scam to the people in expensive restaurants by "choking". The people that saved him would feel responsible and every week they would send a bit of money. A bit seems fairly little but counting the crowd he tricked it adds up to quite an amount.

Choke is a interesting novel in the ways that the character tricks makes it fictional. Many would find Choke humorous at times but I feel that some parts are a bit too disturbing to be as a joke. This novel is devised in a quick pace with many twisting plots. I'd recommend it to more mature readers.
