Unlike the main review blurb author here, I didn't find the book "compelling" at all. I liked Vitaliev's Borders Up!: Eastern Europe Through the Bottom of a Glass quite a bit, but this one felt forced at times, both the material (the enclaves themselves aren't that exciting as destinations) and the humor.
