I loved this book as much as _The Satanic Verses_. Page after page of wow. Rushdie's work is so real and relevant, and so mythical, all at once. The scope and span of his knowledge are vast. I don't know how he does it - it is as though Rushdie is 4 people all rolled up into one. Nearly all points of the globe, all parts of human nature - covered in a mere marathon of 400 pages. Powerful, indeed.
