This is an odd little book. It is visually beautiful and is designed like someone's travel journal (which indeed is what the story it) and has fold out maps, pictures, tickets and notes in the side bars. It is also a character study between the original author of the travel journal, Lydia, who disappears, and her former lover and frequent travel companion, Christopher, who takes up Lydia's journal after her disappearance. And I think there is a message in there somewhere about being open to the possibilities as you travel, both through distant lands and through life.
