** spoiler alert ** I'm going to be blunt: this is a bad book. I had so many problems with it, I'm not really sure where to begin.
The first thing that bugged me was that the main character's name is very close to the authors name.
Secondly, I saw all of the plot "twists" coming from a mile away. I had guessed that Valentine was Clary's father while reading the third chapter.
Third, the characters were fairly dull, didn't really have well-defined personalities, and I just didn't care about a lot of them.
Fourth, the author borrowed SO MUCH from other books and movies- popular ones, too!
And finally, there was so much wrong with the writing. Grammatical errors everywhere and really poor metaphors and similes. Was I the only one who noticed the abundance of cat similes? It drove me insane. At least once in every chapter, something was compared to a cat. I'm not even exaggerating.
The author also really enjoys the word "facade."
