This is a pretty cute book...

Jeremy Rawlings is a Duke, but he's basically been screwing around his whole life—getting in trouble, getting kicked out of school, etc. He's 21 or 22 when he is kicked out of Oxford and sent home. There he is reacquainted with his childhood playmate, Maggie Herbert, nearly 17. It's been 5 years since they've seen one another, so you can imagine that there are some big differences. He's grown like a FOOT and is all muscular and hott now. She's all womanly-like now... And so, of course, Jerry is overcome by lust and totally makes out with her. They're caught by his uncle, Edward (hero from Where Roses Grow Wild), but they're NOT forced to get married. Jeremy is reamed by Edward, who tells him that he's a ne'er-do-well who hasn't done anything in his life to deserve a girl like Maggie, so he's like, "Fine. I'll go join the cavalry and go to India." Maggie's parents ship her off to Paris to study painting.

5 years later, their paths cross again. Jeremy's been hugely successful in India and was awarded the Star of Jaipur by a maharajah... Maggie is engaged to a French guy and is a pretty successful portrait artist in London..... heehee... Good times ensue...
