Well, Gail Carriger has given us another fun read in her Parasol Protectorite series.

It starts with Alexia sulking at her Mother and Step-father's house--with all the annoyance from her family that that entails. From there, she heads to France accompanied by her father's manservant Floot and Madame Lefoux, heading towards Italy. Along the way there is the usual mayhem that Alexia always causes with vampires, were-wolves, mad scientists and the Knights Templar--who in this world were NOT destroyed.

I will give one small spoiler--I really want an Ornithopter. I LOVED the idea of one being powered at least partially by gunpowder. What a salute to Jules Verne.
