Without going into too many tangents about early Greek works or the art of comedy I'll say simply that Lysistrata holds up remarkably well. The story of it is something eternal (always good) and pretty much appeals to every gender and opinion. In fact, Lysistrata is the basis of god knows how many shows, movies, books, and plays already.
I'll admit I'm not wholly interested in more esoteric or ancient works and I'm generally even less interested in how Literature evolved, but Lysistrata was still fascinating to me. The whole Chorus breaking away from tradition to get caught up in the plot was also fantastic. I can respect that it took an impressively inventive mind to create this work.
