I have these internal debates occasionally where I try work out whether I like this book or the PsyCop series more, and then I realise that it's innately unfair to compare a standalone to a series and resolve to appreciate them both equally.

There is So Much to appreciate about this book- Mark's fashion obsession and his OCD cleaning as sublimation of how much he wants his boss, the fey Jonathan; the incidental details like hoagie-flavoured water; and vampires chugging oil to maintain calorific needs; the v/human soaps on the telly. It's snappy and interesting and I've read it over 5 times so far. Each time I end up staying up Too Late while I finish it.
