it was amazing

This book doesn't quite grab you like Gilead does, but it is just as beautiful in a darker, more quiet way. I reread the parts of Gilead that overlapped with Home, and I loved how it made me understand that memory in a new way. It also made me realize that the story in Gilead is written from a father to a son, which of course the reader knows, but I took for granted that the narrator was telling the story exactly as it happened. I think a good way to describe this book is that it is a small story about the biggest things - feeling like a visitor in your own home, seeking salvation from your deep moral failures, finding the strength to love and forgive someone who continues to disappoint you, feeling the weight of undeserved love and forgiveness... I could go on for a long time.
