Book 2 was not as riveting as book 1 in the Jack Reacher series, but still good. Technical information about the firearms used by militia had me yawning at times, he is very thorough in his description about how and why a bullet travels as fast as it does and the mathematical equations of the aim, etc., but overall I enjoyed the read, yet preferred the action of book 1 more.

This revolves around the kidnapping of a female FBI agent with a knee injury. She is also the daughter of a General on the President's joint Chief of Staffs. Reacher is again in the wrong place at the wrong time, this time in front of a dry cleaners where the woman was about to be snatched, but as she stumbles with her cane and dry-cleaning, Jack Reacher walks by and "reaches" out to steady her, getting abducted along with her. In the shop-video it looks like he is helping to abduct her, so he is sought by the FBI and military along with the extremist militia group that snatched them on this 4th-of-July weekend. Most of it takes place in inside the van they are transported in, and then in the complex where they are held hostage. Some scenes are grissly, bloody, and complex, often leaving us to wonder how Jack will get out of a situation, but our super-hero always comes through.
