Read in December, 1998
I read this book when I was living in New York City. It was Christmas time and since I hate to shop I always put it off until the last minute. But I discovered a secret cure when I found that if I had a book I loved, every moment on the subway could be stolen reading time. All of a sudden I couldn't wait to go out and shop!
I have learned that not everyone loves Wodehouse, but if that humor is something you enjoy then this book is a treasure. I remember taking a break and eating lunch in a Nathan's restaurant near Times Square. I was laughing so hard that families began to move away from me, I think in fear that I was crazy. I actually had to close the book and gather my composure but every time I even looked at it I would start to laugh again.
I read a lot of Wodehouse after that and this is still my favorite. Not all are great, and many have a lot of plot similarity, but when you need a laugh, it's a pretty good bet.
