I'm being very generous by giving it 3 stars. Six self-centered, whiney families adopt baby girls from China. Maya Lange, who lost a daughter herself and continues to blame herself for the accident, opens Red Thread Adoption Agency. Her story is a secret from those she cares about...The book covers five additional families seeking baby daughters. When a child is born, there exists an invisible red thread that connects the child's soul to all the people--past, present & future--who will play a part in that child's life. Over time, that thread shortens and tightens to bring those people closer who are fated to be together.
Ann Hood also lost a baby daughter and later adopted from China. Her book The Knitting Circle also has this theme.
