A tale of teenage sex & drugs. Everyone who partakes seems to contract this disease where they mutate, some worse than others. The whole thing just felt like a crazy parents dreamed up vision. I wasn't really enthralled by the characters. Too many of them looked way too similar to other characters to the point where I really couldn't keep up with who I was reading about, not that it mattered because I didn't really care who was who. Basically its a book with a message, Don't have sex or do drugs. It was all just a bit lame for me I'm afraid. I don't really see how anybody got anything more from it than that.
There seem to be many reviews stating that this has some deeper hidden meaning than I found but I seriously fail to see where they found this depth. This is clearly a statement about sexually transmitted disease & most likely AIDS as it is transmitted by passing bodily fluids from one person to the other. It felt like it wanted to mean so much more than it actually did. I mean the concept itself is relatively original and quirky but the amount of characters and the similarity of their appearance just confused me, as a reader I didn't get close enough to any of them to truly care about the outcome. The fact that the characters all have creepy dreams and everything they seem to think about looks like male or female genetalia. If I had read this as a teenager I might have clicked with it more but sadly I did not.
