Rebecca Nurse: Saint but Witch Victim
by Charles Sutherland Tapley
by Charles Sutherland Tapley
I picked up this at the Rebecca Nurse Homestead in Danvers, Massachusetts. During the last year, I learned that Rebecca was my great*8 grandmother. Since she was one of the victims of the Salem witch delusion, I wanted to learn more about her.
Tapley's book is a short overview of the events. It doesn't go into much detail but it is a decent overview. He is clearly very sympathetic to Rebecca's plight and occasionally goes beyond reporting history to drawing conclusions that he sometimes lacks the data for (or doesn't present the data upon which he based the conclusion).
The title is a bit over the top. There is nothing to suggest that Rebecca was a saint, but she certainly was a victim, unjustly accused and condemned.

Another descendant of hers from my hometown, is a Goodreads author and his book is a fictional 'what if' of the witch trials. Salem VI, Rebecca Rising by Jack Heath.
