I've always wanted to read this ever since seeing Field of Dreams so long ago. I finally got 'round to it. It's one of the rare cases where I liked to movie better than the book. Not that the book was bad, but the movie has been familiar for so long that the book seemed the intruder rather then the movie. The movie also distilled the essence of the book in a way that's rare and wonderful when it happens.

Still, it's a good read and I'm glad I did. It stands on its own without needing the movie to interpret it. But, while the book is good, the movie was great (for me).
