Sharmin This book is a great way to integrate literature with social studies especially for an upper elementary class. This chapter book tells the story of a girl in the time of WWII. Since this story is told from an actual girl's view who went through those times, you feel more willing to read and "learn" about this era. You could use this book as a read aloud and then document comprehension and make connections to your textbook. As teachers, we can cover required standards in a creative and interactive way with this book.
