Robert Hughes is such a great writer. He loves art and thinks it is important. He hates Robert Mapplethorpe.

Claire I've never read anything by Hughes, but I have read all the crazy press there was recently about him and his near-fatal car accident in Australia. Have you seen any of it? It might be interesting for a Hughes fan -- it became a whole thing about Australia vs. US, pretentions, expatriotism, so on and so forth. Pretty engaging even without being familiar with his work.
