"Snuff" is another work by my fav author, Chuck Palahniuk. An aging porn star, Cassie Wright, decides to go out with a bang - one that lasts all day and includes 600 guys and to be preserved on film. The film really revolves around her, her assistant, Mr. 600 with whom she has a long history with, Mr. 72 a washed up actor that will do anything to get back on top, and a adopted Midwestern kid who think Cassie is his natural mother.
It is a story of flawed people who makes bad decisions that come back to haunt them, like so many do in real life; as well as a warning that one can never really outrun the bad things they do.
I had watched " Boogie Nights" right before reading this, and there are a few similarities besides content, buyt the ending is very different fromt he movie. It was weird, but I had that old "organ grinder" music fromt he beginning of "boogie Nights" repeating in my head while I read the book, I guess indicative of the sad situation all of the characters had made for themselves.
I would suggest this to people that aren't overly offended and can look past the porn aspect of the book and see the flawed people for what they truly are. While it is not nearly his best work, it is entertaining and thought provoking.
